According to data from the<strong> National Population Council (Conapo)<\/strong>is estimated that <strong>in 2025 there will be more than 17 million people aged 60 and over in Mexico.<\/strong>which represents the <strong>12.8% of total population<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However,<strong> projections to 2030 indicate that there will be more than 20 million inhabitants in the world.<\/strong> in this population group. It is for this reason that <strong>it concerns us to talk about the role of older adults in the work environment. <\/strong>and how to combat the violence that lives in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What types of violence do older adults face in Mexico?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>In a <strong>exclusive session given by psychologist Jessica Casas <\/strong>of the Purple Lens Foundation to ComproDiverso's member companies,<strong> The mental health specialist explained that older adults face various types of violence in the workplace.<\/strong> and divided them into three types:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A) Ageism<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>World Health Organization (WHO) defines<\/strong> This concept is described as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\"The way we think, feel, and act with respect to others or ourselves by reason of age.\"<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Ageism<strong> is manifested in stereotypes, prejudices and practices<\/strong> that<strong> limit the development of older adults<\/strong>. This can affect workspaces in a variety of ways, for <strong>causes<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>isolation<\/strong> social;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>anxiety, physical and mental exhaustion<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>generates <strong>less motivation<\/strong> y <strong>less self-esteem<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>loss of economic security<\/strong>. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>B) Invisibilization<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This refers to the<strong> indifference or rejection that can exist towards an elderly person<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>C) Verbal and psychological violence<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this case, <strong>words or expressions are used<\/strong> that <strong>perpetuate negative stereotypes<\/strong> to the elderly. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/comprodiverso.com\/en\/labor-inclusion\/relevance-of-the-national-day-of-the-elderly-inclyuente-language\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">KNOW HOW NOT TO REFER TO THE ELDERLY.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Age discrimination in the workplace occurs when:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>there is a stigma that older adults are no longer productive.<\/strong>; <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>layoffs or lack of promotions<\/strong>; <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>early labor desertion<\/strong> because they are replaced by a younger profile;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>salary gap <\/strong>accumulated (in the case of women);
